Backups & restore

What is captured, previews, staged restore and limits.

Automatic encrypted snapshots of roles, channels, categories, positions, permissions and supported server settings are taken every 10 minutes (configurable). You can also create, preview, restore and delete backups manually (owner and security role only). Optionally a bounded number of recent messages per channel is included.

Restore always starts with a preview computed against the live server. Existing items are reconciled (matched by ID, then name) rather than deleted; deletion of extra items only happens if you explicitly ask for it. Restores run in stages, can be cancelled between steps, report partial failures precisely, and can be retried. Module settings are re-pointed to recreated channels and roles automatically.

Limits

  • Discord resource IDs change after recreation; old links and mentions do not resolve.
  • Original messages cannot be recreated with their IDs, timestamps or authors. Replayed messages are posted by a webhook and clearly marked as restored.
  • A backup cannot recover content that was never captured.
  • Channels the bot could not read may be incompletely backed up.
  • Members, ban history, integrations and boosts cannot be restored.
